In honor of Katie Lemons, aka @twist_of_lemons, we’re trying our hand at some of those KALErr puns, for which we know and love her!
Last night we enjoyed some unbeLEAFable salads, while discussing a really fascinating, and educational topic on the connection of food and disease. Apologies if our puns are BEET, but we can share some of our key learnings from the event, from which everyone can benefit:
- Through the gut brain access, a well functioning microbiome is crucial for a healthy brain, immune system, weight, and even mood!
- Fermented veggies and probiotics are a couple of the most popular options to improve gut health
- Certain veggies, such as asparagus, leeks, carrots, jicama, onions, radishes, and tomatoes, contain natural prebiotics
- Cinnamon and turmeric have anti-inflammatory properties and assist with blood-sugar control
